I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. ~Jesus

The Psalm of the Addict

A while back I ran into two guys that were out in a parking lot selling baked bread to raise money for Victory Life Men's Home out of Dallas, Texas. I didn't buy anything, but I had the chance to talk to one of the guys and I must say it was riveting. You could tell that he had been through a lot! But, because of Christ's love, he had a peace, joy and new life about him that was very unusual. It's amazing what Christ can do for anyone. He left me with this flyer that had this Psalm on it. I immediately related because, I too used to be a drug addict. This one is about heroin.

The Psalm of the Addict

An unknown heroin addict lost in the dream world of heroin, wrote the following:

"King Heroin is my shepherd, I shall always want.

He maketh me to lie down in the gutters.
He leadeth me besides the trouble waters.

He destroyeth my soul. He leadeth me in
the paths of wickedness for his name sake.

Yea I shall walk through the valley of poverty,
I will fear all evil; for thou Heroin art with me;
the needle and the capsule try to comfort me.

Thou strippest my Table of Dignity in the presence
of my family. Thou robbest my head of reason.
My cup of sorrow runneth over.

Surely Heroin addiction shall stalk me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the House of the Damned forever!"

If you find yourself in this situation, or know someone who is, there is always hope while you are still alive. Cry out to Jesus and when he sends help, GO! Don't put it off. I know plenty of people that were not as fortunate as me. They just ran out of time! Don't put it off another day. Get help. If you need prayer, email me at coryenderby@gmail.com. Either my wife or I will pray for you. On the flyer, there was also a number listed to their 24 hour HOTLINE. The number is:  214-826-4404. If you are calling outside of the US dial 001-1*-214-826-4404.

Blessings!

Tribal "Into The Wild"

Tribal is an Australian band that I discovered a while back and I really like their sound. They remind me of the secular band Incubus a little, with a bright, energetic vibe. Another cool thing is it looks like they are having so much fun when they play together. They are releasing a new album soon and I am really looking forward to it.

Check out the video below to their song "Into The Wild".

You can also find them on their website   ThisIsTribal.

War of Ages "Return To Life"

War Of Ages just released their fifth album "Return To Life". As usual, awesome album art by Dave Quiggle who has done all their album covers thus far. You can pick up a hard copy of this album on Facedown or go by your local Hastings, Best Buy or FYE. And you can also go to Itunes or Amazon Mp3 and download the album online.

If you would like to try and hear some of these new songs live, then catch them on tour.

Go HERE and see if they are coming to a city near you!

Lukewarm Christian Bands

I always find it hard to understand when a music group are thought of to be Christians and they keep extra quiet about Jesus, both lyrically, during interviews and on their social networking sites. In other words, it is incredibly difficult to find out if they have any inkling of belief when checking multiple sources. If music is such a large part of their life (and it has to be if they're touring, etc..) then why not make mention of the one that has the power to change your life and save your soul? Could it be that they are told not to say anything about their Lord and Master Jesus by record companies and management? If so, what a prison. Is it not cool to talk about Jesus? Well, you should know the answer to that. To the world it's not cool at all to talk about Jesus. But to those that are called it is the power to save. These are good possible reasons, but I think it could be because of lukewarmness as well. Lukewarm means you're walking the fence. You believed the Gospel message and want Jesus, but you also want the things of this world just as much. In Revelation 3 it is written,

I know everything you have done, and you are not cold or hot. I wish you were either one or the other. But since you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth. You claim to be rich and successful and to have everything you need. But you don't know how bad off you really are. You are pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.  Buy your gold from me. It has been refined in a fire, and it will make you rich. Buy white clothes from me. Wear them and you can cover up your shameful nakedness. Buy medicine for your eyes, so you will be able to see. I correct and punish everyone I love. So make up your minds to turn away from your sins. Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together. Everyone who wins the victory will sit with me on my throne, just as I won the victory and sat with my Father on his throne. If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

My hope is that everyone that reads this can pray for bands that are lukewarm. I am sure that it is very hard to be a band in this world and stay on fire for Jesus. After all, I believe a large part of that relationship is cultivated in solitude.. in prayer. How often do musicians get to find that quiet place? Pray for them! That is the one, best thing you can do for them. They need it.

BlueTree

My wife came across this amazing band from Northern Ireland that I have never heard of called BlueTree. She told me that she is actually finding me music now for a change. You know what, I am glad that she did. This band is really awesome. They defy the cookie cutter 3 minute song-length music standard with somewhat lengthy prophetic worship songs that capture some of the mid to late 80's alternative rock sound. They are scheduled to release their latest album "Kingdom" in May of this year. Here is a video for their song "God of this city" off their album of the same name. Enjoy!
